Home Energy Assistance

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is a 100% federally funded program established to assist low income households meet the high cost of heating their homes. There are three components to the program: heating assistance, cooling assistance, (when air conditioning is required for medical reasons); and emergency assistance. Emergency benefits may be authorized for the purchase of fuel, restoration or maintenance of utility heat services, furnace repairs for home owners, prevention of evictions, and emergency or temporary rehousing.
