John Patrick Dougherty, 19, of Summit, received $750 from the Chief Jack Hill Memorial Scholarship. Chief Hill who commanded the investigative staff of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. An officer who dedicated 38 years of his life to the law enforcement profession, Chief Hill believed that honor and integrity must be the foundation for every person who chooses this career path
Dougherty recently received a letter of acceptance from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island for the fall 2009 semester. He plans to major in criminal justice. He is from a law enforcement family; his father, John Dougherty, has been on the police force for over 20 years in Summit.
The scholarship was offered to Mr. Dougherty on behalf of the Chiefs of County Detectives/Investigators Association of New Jersey, Chief Kenneth W. Tomasso, President. |
