There are nine weeks of camp being offered by the Watchung Stables during the summer of 2008. For the last five years, the following system of camp registration has been used successfully. It is a result of an ad hoc committee of parents, Watchung Auxiliary members and staff who met to devise the most equitable means to register all those wishing to participate. Please note: 1st Squad Riders will register on (May?) which is the Saturday prior to the Spring Troop Horse Show, They will not register on the weekend of the show.
Registrants are reminded that there are a limited number of horses available at any given level of ability. The following guidelines will be used in accommodating campers:
Beginners 6 horses/week
D2 Riders (also known as 3B) 7 horses/week
3rd Squad (also known as C3 and C2 in the 3rd) 8 horses/week
2nd Squad (also known as C2 in the 2nd, B2, BB2 in the 2nd)
10 horses/week
1st Squad (BB2 in the 1st, BB1, A, AA) 10 horses/week

Registration Day Procedures
On June? at 8 AM, anyone interested in registering for Equestrian Camp, who participated in the Summer Camp 2007, Fall 2007 or Spring 2008 Troop Program, will have the opportunity to select a lottery number from a bucket. The place a person holds on line to pick the lottery number will have no bearing on the order in which registration occurs. Therefore, no advantage will be gained by arriving early. The bucket of lottery numbers will be held by members of the Watchung Stable Auxiliary. Once you have drawn a number you must enter the office building.
The lottery number selected will determine the applicant’s place on line to register. Applicants will be called in numerical order as soon as everyone on line has received one. If a number is not selected, the next person in line will be called. Persons arriving after the lottery numbers have been passed out will be accommodated in the order in which they arrive after all number holders have been called.
If you arrive after 8:30 AM you will be placed at the end of the list. Lottery numbers will not be passed out after 8:30.
On June? at 1 PM, a separate lottery will be held (in the same manner as above) for In-County Beginners and new riders. At 2 PM, if any camp spaces remain, a separate lottery will be held for Out-of-County Beginners and new riders.
A chart updating the status of all camp weeks, riding levels and closures will be updated as soon as the information is available. Please work out a list of choices for camp weeks. Flexibility is a plus.
Wait List Procedures
Applicants may have their name added to a wait list if their choice of camp weeks is not available and they have not been placed in another camp session.
When a withdrawal is received, Stable staff will consult the wait list to try and accommodate those people.
Should any camp openings remain at 8:00 AM on June?, Stable staff will consult the applications, in lottery order and offer a second week of camp when a match exists. Checks for the second week of camp must be delivered in person to the Stables within one week of notification or your slot will be offered to the next match.
On your original application, you must indicate the session(s) you want for a second week. Please list cell and work phone numbers to facilitate our ability to contact you.
