‘Jersey Jazz’ Moves to Echo Lake Park;
Sept. 20 Festival Relocates to Higher Ground

UNION COUNTY, N.J. – The site of the Sixth Annual “Jersey Jazz by the Lake” Musicfest has been relocated to higher ground at Echo Lake Park on Saturday, Sept. 20, from Noon until 9 p.m. The free, outdoor jazz festival will be held at the grassy hillside amphitheater near the Springfield Ave. entrance to Echo Lake Park, on the border of Westfield and Mountainside.

Jersey Jazz by the Lake is sponsored by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and co-sponsored by Verizon, New Jersey Transit, NUI Elizabethtown Gas, Schering-Plough, the Elizabeth Center, Kids Kingdom, and the United Way of Union County. Concert organizers decided to move the venue to Echo Lake Park in anticipation of wet conditions at nearby Nomahegan Park, the original venue, caused by expected runoff from Hurricane Isabel.

Shuttle buses will be available to transport concertgoers from the parking lot at the Cranford campus of Union County College to Echo Lake Park.

The Kids Kingdom Traveling Jubilee for young children will also relocate to Echo Lake Park. Food vendors will be available to please every palate.

This year’s free, outdoor jazz festival features performances by vocalist Oleta Adams, trumpeter Chris Botti, flutist Nestor Torres, guitarist Jeff Golub, and the Richard Reiter Swing Band with vocalist Tricia Slafta.
