Registration is now in progress for Fall Troop riding lessons at Watchung Stable, located at 1160 Summit Lane in Mountainside. Classes are conducted for beginners through advanced students at the stable, which is a facility of the County of Union. Riders from nine years of age to adults, especially those who have never ridden before, are encouraged to participate.
Junior Troop, for children nine through 18 years of age, begins the week of September 7. The Fall session consists of 10 one-hour weekly lessons. Classes are available Tuesdays through Saturdays. Adult Troop, consisting of eight lessons, held on Sunday afternoon or Tuesday morning, also begins September 7.
Applications must be presented in person at the Watchung Stable office from 9:00 a.m.-Noon and 1:00-3:00 p.m. No mail-ins will be accepted. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment must accompany all applications. All new students must bring proof of residence. New junior troop members also must bring a birth certificate.
All students will be required to provide specified uniforms and helmets. These items can be purchased year-round at the stable during regular office hours.
