The Union County Commission on the Status of Women is pleased to announce the nine recipients of 2010 Women of Excellence Awards. The nine awardees will be honored at the 18th annual Women of Excellence dinner at The Westwood, 438 North Avenue in Garwood on Friday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m.
“The Union County Freeholder Board is proud to recognize the achievements of these nine outstanding women,” said Freeholder Chairman Daniel P. Sullivan. “They represent thousands of others throughout Union County who work hard to excel in their personal lives, and who strive to make our communities stronger.”
The Commission on the Status of Women is sponsored by The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Its mission is to call attention to the contributions of women in the fields of education, health care, the arts, government, business, law, community service, technology, humanitarianism, public service, women’s advocacy, and lifetime achievement.
The 2010 awardees are:
- Carol Y. Berns, Esq. of Cranford, Law
- Pamela Eagan of Roselle, Health
- Sergeant Marianne Hopko of Mountainside, Law Enforcement
- Janice Lilien of Springfield, Youth Leadership
- Susan Lipstein of Union, Education
- Eileen Forman Ludden of Summit, Special Needs Advocacy
- Maria Mnischenko of Union, Lifetime Achievement
- Marie Oakie of Hillside, Government
- Sister Judy Mertz of Elizabeth, Womens’ Advocacy
