ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Any artist age 60 or over, currently residing in Union County, may submit one entry.

Entrants may be either professional or non-professional in status.

The entry shall have been completed in the last three years and not previously exhibited in the Union County Senior Citizens Annual Art Exhibition.

All work must be the original creation of the artist (mounting, matting and framing excluded). No kits or copies of others’ original artwork will be accepted.

Hanging craft or artwork, including photography, must be no more than 36" and no less than 11" in height and width, including matting and outer-edge frame dimension. Standing sculpture or 3-D craft may not exceed 18" in height, width or depth, including base.

2D artwork must be ready for hanging, preferably using screw eyes. No tape. The artwork should be protected, where necessary, with glass, plexiglas, mylar or other clear protective material. On hanging pieces over 24”, plexiglas, not glass, is strongly recommended.

Craft - one-of-a-kind original creations only, no craft kits, molds or wearable fiber art

Digital Imagery - artwork generated or altered using computer graphics software, including digitally-altered original photographs
Please note: Photos taken by a digital camera should be entered in the Photograph category, unless digitally-altered beyond an outcome obtainable in a traditional darkroom setting.

Drawing - includes pencil, pen, ink, graphite

Mixed Media - combines two or more media, no one of which clearly predominates; includes collage and assemblage

Oil
-
Pastel - includes chalk, charcoal and oil pastel

Photography - includes color, black & white or tinted photographs taken with a film-based or digital camera

Print - includes etching, dry point and intaglio

Sculpture - any work designed in 3-dimensions, carved or constructed in any medium, abstract or figurative, painted or unpainted

Watercolor - includes gouache
CLASSIFICATIONS
Professional - must meet at least two of the following criteria:

sold the type of art entered in the exhibition through commercial channels
-
exhibited in a professional gallery
-
held professional membership in a guild or association
Non-Professional - does not meet the above criteria
SUBMISSION OF ARTWORK

Artwork should be delivered to: Elizabethtown Gas Company, Liberty Hall Center, 1085 Morris Ave., Union (across from Kean University) on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 between 9 am and 2 pm.

Artwork submitted must have Label #1 attached to the back of the picture or base of sculpture. Keep Label #2 for your records.

While all possible care will be taken to safeguard the artwork, the County of Union or Elizabethtown Gas does not assume responsibility for loss or damage incurred.

Pick up date for non-winners: Thursday, July 17, 2008, between 9 am and 2 pm.
