From the Garden State Parkway

The jail is approximately 3.5 miles from exit 140. When you get off Exit 140, follow the signs for NJ-82 East. (NJ 82 is also known as Morris Avenue) Follow Morris Avenue to the dead end in Elizabeth. Turn left, then right, onto Broad Street. After going under the railroad overpass, follow Broad Street for approximately ½ mile to the fourth traffic signal and turn right onto Rahway Avenue. The jail is located on Elizabethtown Plaza, directly behind the Union County Court House.

From the NJ Turnpike

The jail is located approximately 2 miles from Exit 13. When you exit, follow the signs to NJ Route 439 Bayway Avenue. Stay on Bayway Avenue for about 5 blocks then turn right onto S. Broad St. Follow S. Broad Street for one mile and turn left onto Rahway Avenue. The jail is located on Elizabethtown Plaza, directly behind the Union County Court House.

From Route 1 & 9 from the North. (Hoboken, Jersey City)

The jail is located approximately 2 ¾ miles from US 1 & 9. Take US 1 & 9 past Liberty International (Newark Airport) into Elizabeth. Follow US 1 & 9 for approximately 2 miles. After going under the railroad overpass, KEEP RIGHT for ½ mile. Take the exit ramp at the bridge (Elizabeth Avenue) Got to the stop sign and turn right onto Elizabeth Avenue. From Elizabeth Avenue it is approx 3/8 mile to the jail. Bear left at the Courthouse onto Rahway Avenue. The jail is located on Elizabethtown Plaza, directly behind the Union County Court House.

From Route 1 & 9 from the South (Woodbridge)

The jail is approximately 2 ½ miles from U.W. 1 & 9. Follow Route 1 & 9 north through Linden, past the I 278 turnoff. Stay on 1 & 9 for 1 ½ miles past 278. Keep right, follow the ramp straight ahead and to the right, down to Pearl Street. Turn right onto Pearl Street.  Follow that approx ¾ of a mile to S. Broad St. Turn right onto S. Broad Street and follow that one block north (approx ¼ mi) Turn left onto Rahway Avenue The jail is located on Elizabethtown Plaza, directly behind the Union County Court House.

From Route 22 (from the west)

The jail is approximately 3 ½ miles from US 222. Follow US 22 into Union Township past the center islands between the east and westbound roadways.
Follow US 22 about one mile – follow the signs for NJ 82 – Morris Avenue.
Follow Morris Avenue to the dead end in Elizabeth – approx 3 miles. Turn left, then right, onto Broad Street. After going under the railroad overpass, follow Broad Street for approximately ½ mile to the fourth traffic signal and turn right onto Rahway Avenue. The jail is located on Elizabethtown Plaza, directly behind the Union County Court House.

From Interstate 78 – from the West

The jail is located 6 ½ miles from I-78. Take Rt 78 East and get off at the Union Springfield exit. Turn left onto Morris Avenue (NJ 82) follow the signs to Elizabeth. Stay on Morris Avenue to the dead end in Elizabeth. Turn left, then right, onto Broad Street. After going under the railroad overpass, follow Broad Street for approximately ½ mile to the fourth traffic signal and turn right onto Rahway Avenue. The jail is located on Elizabethtown Plaza, directly behind the Union County Court House.

New Jersey Transit Bus routes 24, 52, 56, 58, and 62 stop near the courthouse complex. The 26, 59, 112 and 115 lines stop a few blocks away

Trains - The Elizabeth Station is the closest stop for the North East Corridor Line and the Jersey Coast Line of Amtrak
