Man arrested for practicing illegal dentistry

Police arrested a Colombian native last week and charged him with running an illegal dentistry practice out of an apartment in Elizabeth, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Jairo Camacho DOB: 7/4/1969 was arrested on June 24 at 821 Jersey Ave in Elizabeth, the same place he was illegally treating patients, said Romankow. An investigation was launched last week after officers discovered the illegal practice while serving an arrest warrant – for an unrelated case -- at the address.

It is believed that Camacho was running the illegal practice for upwards of two years and was equipped with all the necessary equipment and prescription drugs commonly found in a legitimate dental practice, said Romankow.

Camacho is charged with 3rd degree Practicing Dentistry without a license and possession of prescription drugs. He is being held at the Union County Jail on $50,000.

These criminal charges are mere accusations.
The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
